Cherry Burl Vase

A narrow-mouth vase hollowed from a cherry burl found on a fallen tree near the studio. Burls — those knotty, swirled growths on the trunk of a tree — yield some of the most unpredictable and beautiful grain you can turn. No two are alike.

The finish is many thin coats of oil, buffed by hand between each coat.
